New England, New Jersey Interstate Youth Hockey Ban Extended

Interstate youth hockey games and tournaments still won’t be taking place in New England or New Jersey anytime soon.

The states had them banned until December 31, but as WBUR reports, those seven states decided on Wednesday, December 30 that the prohibition will continue until at least January 31. This rule does not affect the U.S. national hockey team, professional hockey teams, or college hockey.

The report also notes that the rule in Vermont is a little different from the one in effect in the rest of the states. It says:  “In Vermont, the order does not affect rules that allow limited youth leagues and school-based sports programs within the state for individuals 19 and younger.”
