New Hampshire City Enforcing Anti-Airbnb Policy

The planning department of Laconia, New Hampshire is enforcing a city policy prohibiting short-term rentals if neighbors complain.

The city council decided in October that short-term rentals in most residential areas violate local zoning rules, according to the Laconia Daily Sun.

Noise, parking, trash, and trespassing are among the complaints that residents have against sh0rt-term renters, according to the Laconia Daily Sun.

Now the planning department is taking steps to carry out the policy against four property owners who have been renting out their properties on a short-term basis.

Laconia is a city of about 16,000 on Lake Winnipesaukee. It’s a popular resort town.
