New Hampshire GOP Keeps Marriage in Platform

May 14, 2018

The New Hampshire Republican Party continues to support marriage as only between one man and one woman in its platform, despite the efforts of a former chairman.

Jennifer Horn, former state party chairman, was excluded from participating in the state party convention over the weekend on a technicality. She had sought to amend the party’s platform plank on marriage, which states that party members:  “Recognize marriage as the legal and sacred union between one man and one woman as ordained by God, encouraged by the state and traditional to humankind, and the core of the family.”

Horn also wanted to change the party’ support for “traditional families” to “nurturing families,” according to The Union Leader.

Horn has recently moved from one ward in Nashua to another, and on that basis convention delegates meeting in Meredith voted to exclude her from taking part in the meeting, according to The Union Leader.
