New Hampshire’s Sexual Assault Law Strengthened To Include Student-Teacher Relations

As of the new year, the grounds for sexual assault are different in New Hampshire. It now includes any sexual contact between school employees and students ages 13 to 18 at the school.

Previously, ithe law in New Hampshire allowed teen-agers 16 and older to be able to consent to such things, meaning it was essentially legal at the state level for some high school students to date teachers at their schools, as WMUR reports.

The change to this law comes after a New Hampshire teacher was charged with sexually assaulting a student in Massachusetts in 2015 and 2016. Although he was seen kissing a student in 2018, it wasn’t a violation of the law.
