Nonagenarian Coronavirus Survivor’s Dad Survived the Spanish Flu

A 94-year-old Brockton native whose father survived the Spanish flu in 1918 has recovered from coronavirus in 2020.

Francis Cashin’s father John lost his first wife and their three children in the pandemic 102 years ago.

Cashin, a retired FBI agent, lives in Florida, and hasn’t live in Brockton since World War II, but he often returned home with his family, Cashin’s son told The Brockton Enterprise.

“He’s a very strong-willed person,” Cashin’s son Mike said of his father, according to the Brockton Enterprise. “I never lived in Brockton … but I always associated Brockton with that attitude.”
