Rally To Re-Open Gun Stores Set for Bourne Rotary on Saturday, April 25

April 24, 2020

Gun-rights supporters are planning to hold a rally called “Re-Open Our Massachusetts Gun Stores!” near one of the bridges over the Cape Cod Canal this weekend.

The Second Amendment standout is sponsored by United Cape Patriots and Massachusetts Gun Rights.

Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker has ordered all retail gun stores to close because of the coronavirus emergency, saying that they are nonessential businesses. Several gun store owners have filed a lawsuit in federal court seeking to overturn the governor’s executive order.

United Cape Patriots held a rally at the same place on Sunday, April 19 to call for re-opening businesses on Cape Cod, which has not been hit nearly as hard by coronavirus as some other parts of the state.

Organizers are asking people who come to the rally to bring signs and flags. People who come are also asked to observe the state’s safety protocol for outside gatherings, which includes social distancing to try to minimize chances of spreading the virus.

The event is scheduled for 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 25 at or near the Dunkin’s Donuts parking lot at the Bourne Rotary, which is on the Cape side of the Bourne Bridge.
