‘Re-Open Cape Cod’ Rally Set for Bourne Rotary on Sunday, May 10

May 7, 2020

United Cape Patriots is sponsoring another rally at the Bourne Rotary this coming weekend to re-open businesses on Cape Cod.

Rally organizers say the Cape shouldn’t remain closed because of the coronavirus emergency because the coronavirus numbers there justify ending the lockdown.

Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker said April 28 he is not planning to re-open some regions of the state before others, for fear of causing coronavirus cases to spike,

But rally organizers say the governor should allow individual counties to re-open if they meet certain public health standards, including a downward trajectory of coronavirus cases within a 14-day period. The standards are in a phased approach recommended by the White House called “Opening Up America Again,” which has been approved by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The governor is also citing the same standards but so far has said he wants to see the downward trajectory statewide, and not just in certain regions.

Participants in the rally are encouraged to bring signs and maintain social distancing.

The standout rally, called Re-Open Cape Cod, is scheduled for 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 10 at the Bourne Rotary, which on the Cape side of the Bourne Bridge.
