Rhode Island Talk Show Host Writes Coronavirus-Sendup Song

May 9, 2020

Rhode Island talk show host John DePetro has published a video of a song he wrote poking fun at the coronavirus experience in the Ocean State.

The song, called “Rhode Islanders Spring 20,” describes isolation, weight gain, lack of haircuts, the governor’s press conferences, the invasion of New Yorkers, and curbside liquor deliveries, to the tune of Leonard Cohen’s 1984 song “Hallelujah.”

DePetro, a conservative, hosts a show on WNRI AM 1380 and FM 99.9 in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. A longtime veteran of Rhode Island talk radio, he is also a former host of WRKO AM 680 in Boston.
