Say Goodnight To Confederate Prisoners’ Memorial on Georges Island

State officials say they’re going to remove the lone Confederate memorial in Massachusetts after Columbus Day weekend and put it temporarily in the Massachusetts State Archives. The stone has the names of Confederate prisoners of war who died at Fort Warren on Georges Island in Boston Harbor during the Civil War.
