Special Election For Central Massachusetts State Rep Seat Scheduled

December 7, 2023

A special election has been scheduled to fill the central Massachusetts state representative seat Peter Durant (R-Spencer) vacated after he won a special election in November to become a state senator.

The party primaries are scheduled for February 6, 2024 and the special election is scheduled for March 5, 2024, according to State House News Service.

The Sixth Worcester House District includes the towns of Dudley and Southbridge and portions of the towns of Charlton (precincts 1, 2, 3, and 4A) and Spencer (precinct 1).

It’s a Republican-leaning district. Two Republicans have raised campaign funds to run so far:  David Adams, a selectman in Southbridge and a U.S. Marine Corps veterans who serves as veterans affairs office in Uxbridge; and John Marsi, a selectman in Dudley and vice president of a database marketing company.

Durant, who held the seat until last month, has endorsed Marsi.
