Spectator At Red Sox-Phillies Game Falls Into Bullpen

May 5, 2023

A spectator at a Boston Red Sox, Philadelphia Phillies game in Philadelphia on Friday, May 5 fell over a protective wall into the Phillies bullpen.

The spectator was reaching for a ball thrown his way. The incident happened in the top of the first inning when Masataka Yoshida, the Red Sox’s second batter, was hitting, according to ESPN.

A pitcher from the bullpen came running onto the field to alert medical staff to what had happened. The fan was strapped to a stretcher with undisclosed injuries. He was conscious and responsive.

The Red Sox went on to win the game 5-3.
