Springfield Casino Missing Revenue Projections By A Lot

The first so-called “resort casino” in Massachusetts is bringing in far less revenue than anticipated, leading operators of two casinos in Connecticut to conclude that it’s not as much of a threat as they once thought.

MGM Springfield averaged only about $23 million per month during its first three months of operation, down 34 percent from its projected $34.8 million per month, according to MassLive.com.

That suggests a drop in revenue of only about 9.2 percent at Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun in Connecticut, as opposed to the 25 percent initially forecasted, according to MassLive.com.
