State Issues First Provisional Cultivation License for Commercial Marijuana Grower

The Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission issued its first provisional cultivation license for recreational marijuana Thursday.

Sira Naturals, which has medical marijuana dispensaries in Cambridge, Somerville, and Needham, may be able to provide company-grown marijuana for sale by this winter, according to the Boston Business Journal.

Since Needham has banned recreational marijuana shops, the company won’t be able to sell marijuana there. But the company plans to sell recreational marijuana eventually in Cambridge and Somerville.

The company grows marijuana in Milford.
