Turkey Hunting Season Begins in Massachusetts

April 27, 2020

As of Monday, it is now spring turkey hunting season in Massachusetts.

The season, which lasts from Monday, April 27 to Saturday, May 23, is the only form of hunting that is currently permitted in the Bay State, according to the Massachusetts Division of Fisheries and Wildlife.

Over the weekend, the hunting season officially kicked off with the Youth Turkey Hunt on Friday, April 25. However, MassWildlife recommended that people hunt only with their immediate family members or guardians this year.

This year, the annual limit of the amount of turkeys one can harvest in a year increased from two to three.

The big change comes in the spring, when a hunter one can now keep up to two bearded turkeys. The fall limit of one turkey of either sex remains unchanged.

Previously, a hunter could either keep two bearded turkeys in the spring and none in the fall or one turkey in each season.

Hunting licenses can be purchased online through MassFishHunt.
