U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Cancels Boston Pro-Abortion Event Appearance Friday

August 5, 2022

U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra was scheduled appear in Boston on Friday, but that will not happen.

He was scheduled to join U.S. Representative Ayanna Pressley (D-Hyde Park) and Boston Mayor Michelle Wu at the Codman Square Health Center on the afternoon of Friday, August 5 to discuss “their work to address the Black maternal health crisis and protect reproductive rights following the recent U.S. Supreme Court decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health,” according to a press release from Pressley’s office on Wednesday, August 3.

A NewBostonPost reporter received permission from Health and Human Services department press secretary to cover the event, but Becerra’s appearance was cancelled due to poor flying conditions.

“Unfortunately the HHS team was notified a few minutes ago that the Secretary’s flight to Boston tomorrow morning was canceled due to severer weather so he will not be attending this event,” an HHS press secretary emailed NewBostonPost at 12:43 a.m. Friday.
