Vermont Farmers Markets Resume Business
May 1, 2020
Farmers markets are now back in business in Vermont.
As WCAX-TV Channel 3 in Burlington, Vermont reports, Friday, May 1 is the first day farmers markets are able to open up again as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
“It won’t look the same, I don’t want to give the false impression that this is going to be the traditional farmers market. This isn’t an event. This is to get your goods and move along. It’s not the time to gather and socialize,” said Vermont Governor Phil Scott, a Republican, during a recent press conference, according to WCAX.
The farmers markets are supposed to use a pre-order model where people simply go pick up what they ordered. The point is to eliminate crowds and minimize contact between people.
Vermont’s stay-at-home order is in place until Friday, May 15.
