White Americans Must Be ‘Anti-Racists’ and ‘Dismantle’ System, Elizabeth Warren Says
June 2, 2020
It’s not enough for white Americans to support the goals of George Floyd protesters, U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren said.
“We cannot simply be allies. We must be anti-racists,” Warren said during a conference call Tuesday, June 2 with business leaders sponsored by the New England Council, according to State House News Service.
Whites must also work to take apart the current social order in the United States, she said.
“I believe that this is a moment when white Americans must look with all justice-loving people and come together to ask what we’re doing every day to dismantle a system that has benefited white people while undervaluing and harming black people,” Warren said, according to State House News Service.
About mid-afternoon, Warren (D-Cambridge) called for dismantling white supremacy in a tweet:
We must keep fighting structural racism and we must be relentless in supporting organizations promoting racial justice and dismantling white supremacy. Here are few of those organizations—please donate if you’re able to.https://t.co/F1LDwGOOgW
