Anthony Kennedy Retiring From U.S. Supreme Court

Anthony Kennedy, 81, who has served on the U.S. Supreme Court since 1988, announced Wednesday that he retiring effective July 31.
Kennedy was the swing vote on many 5-4 decisions, but he generally sided with the liberals on matters pertaining to abortion and homosexuality.
He was nominated to the court by President Ronald Reagan and confirmed by the U.S. Senate, 97-0.
