Tim Johnson, a former newspaper reporter who lives in Vermont, got tired of his various social media outlets, and decided to look up old friends and acquaintances (using the Internet) and then write and send each of them an old-fashioned letter. He describes in the column the people he contacted, what he wrote, why, and how many of them responded.
