Trigger warning: Hillary Clinton just showed what went wrong with millennials

Children, you’re going to want to go to your safe space if you insist on reading this. The adults are going to have a conversation.
I had an afternoon meeting today in Boston with the CEO of a large national company.
I’d guess the gentleman is in his 70s. Good, strong handshake. Eye contact. You know, all of those basic elements of respect that so many people seem to have lost.
Then he dropped it on me.
“Say, I’ve heard some tremendous things about your marketing agency. But … you’re not one of those…millennials… are you?”
“I hope you don’t hold that against me,” I responded.
“So. What do you as a millennial think of this whole FBI announcement on Clinton this morning?” he asked.
“When there’s no longer a law of the land, our country is in a terrifying place,” I responded.
“No way,” he said. “Every CEO I know is conservative. But you’re a millennial. A conservative millennial. I’ll be damned. You’re like a unicorn.”
And with that, we had ourselves a brand new client.
Driving back, I reflected on our conversation. I thought about my recent appearance on Fox and Friends talking about millennials. And it hit me.
It’s our parents’ fault. It’s the whole “not my kid” thing. And we just saw that attitude with Hillary Clinton.
When I was growing up and I got in trouble at school, I was punished. Grounded. Boom. That’s called parenting.
But not everyone was punished. Now it’s the teacher that’s to blame. It’s the administration. It’s the faculty. We don’t teach kids to take responsibility. We put the blame on the very people who have to put up with the crap that your kids are spewing that YOU taught them.
Before my entire generation pulls out the torches and pitchforks, here’s my disclaimer: I’m not talking about all of us. Eighty percent of my staff is comprised of millennials. There are a tremendous amount of us who work our asses off.
So here’s my point. Hillary Clinton just demonstrated the very problem that so many people have with those of you who give the rest of us a bad name.
There’s zero accountability for actions these days.
You go all semester long without studying and then you demand that your professor pass you. You DESERVE it because your parents paid a ton of money for you to go to school.
You smashed some windows in your “screw the police” rally but you shouldn’t have to pay for it. After all, they are the bad guys.
You want a trophy because you successfully came in 8th place.
You are proud that you got points on the SAT because you spelled your name right.
As an intern, you demand that the people who work for the company cater to your “trigger warnings” and make sure to tell you how wonderful you are.
You should be sheltered from hearing words you don’t agree with, because words are hurtful. Then when you and your fellow “social justice warriors” (when I was in school, we referred to them as losers – but hey, to each his own) get mocked publicly, you demand restitution for your hurt, tender little souls.
Hillary Clinton has now proven that you can break the rules and do it without repercussions. Not only that, but you’ll be REWARDED for your actions – by the President himself.
FBI Director James Comey spent 10 minutes of his 15-minute press conference talking in detail about the laws Clinton broke and the lies she told. Then he spent five minutes saying how she won’t be held accountable. But he did point out that other people in similar circumstances would be held accountable for it.
Time for a little analogy. You’re a kid growing up. Your brother punches you in the face. One hundred times. Then he gets caught and lies to your parents. Your parents then stand in front of you and tell you that what he did was wrong. Then they give him ice cream and laugh at you while you watch him eat it. Then they tell you that if you ever punch him, you’ll be grounded for 10 years.
The corruption is so in your face that it’s sickening. Let’s walk through how it’s not even being hidden anymore.
1. Last week, Bill Clinton and Attorney General Loretta Lynch had an “impromptu” meeting at an airport, speaking in secret for a half hour. About, you know, golf and grandkids.
2. Days later, Clinton’s team says they’ll most likely keep Lynch as Attorney General if Clinton wins.
3. Saturday, Clinton was interviewed by the FBI.
4. Tuesday morning, while Clinton is flying with President Obama on Air Force One to a campaign event, the FBI director announces she won’t be indicted.
Unapologetic. Unabashed. In your face. Zero accountability and nothing more than a smug smile to show for it.
So all of those millennials who you’re hating on? I never thought I’d say this – but don’t blame them. They’re just following the new letter of the law and the example that their parents’ generation has set for them.
