President Donald Trump released a video Friday night saying he is doing well after testing positive for coronavirus, although he also said he is going to Water Reed Hospital as a precaution.
In the video, Trump did not look or sound sick.
The White House said the president and first lady Melania Trump are experiencing mild symptoms.
President Trump had planned to attend campaign rallies in battleground states Wisconsin and Arizona during the next three days, but those plans have been shelved.
Below is a transcript of what President Trump said in the 18-second video posted on Twitter:
I want to thank everybody for the tremendous support.
I’m going to Walter Reed Hospital. I think I’m doing very well. But we’re going to make sure that things work out.
The first lady is doing very well.
So thank you very much. I appreciate it. I will never forget it. Thank you.
