Margin of ‘Victory’ in Six Battleground States in 2020 Presidential Election, As Of Mid-December 2020

Below are the reported vote totals from six battleground states in the November 2020 presidential election.  The six states are Arizona, Georgia, Wisconsin, Michigan, Nevada, and Pennsylvania.

Joe Biden has been declared the winner by state officials in all six, but President Donald Trump has contested those findings.

Vote totals were taken from state web sites on Sunday, December 13, 2020. An image of each state’s web site is below the vote totals.

Based on official results — which are disputed — Joe Biden leads Donald Trump in the Electoral College by 306 to 232 votes. Biden is expected to receive enough votes to be elected president of the United States when electors from each state meet in their state capitals on Monday, December 14, 2020.

But if certain states flipped to President Trump, he would likely win the election. If the three states of Arizona, Georgia, and Wisconsin flipped, then Trump and Biden would tie at 269 electoral votes, and the U.S. House of Representatives would choose the president. Each state’s delegation would get one vote, in accord with the Twelfth Amendment of the United States Constitution. Each delegation can only vote for either Trump or Biden, and Trump would likely win, since Republicans currently hold majorities in 26 state delegations versus 24 for Democrats.

Any combination of 38 electoral votes or more from the six states would give Trump a majority of electors and win him the election outright.

Congress is not scheduled to certify the vote count until Wednesday, January 6, 2021. Inauguration Day is Wednesday, January 20, 2020.
