Maura Healey Gave $1,000 In Campaign Cash To An Abortion Fund This Year

If you’ve ever donated money to a liberal politician’s campaign, you may have helped fund an abortion.
Over the years, several Massachusetts pols have used campaign funds to help pay for abortions.
In fact, three Massachusetts politicians donated $1,000 to abortion funds this year.
An abortion fund is an organization that helps pay for women’s abortions if they’re uninsured or their health insurance plan doesn’t cover abortion. (Medicaid covers abortion in Massachusetts.)
Research by NewBostonPost found that Massachusetts Governor-elect Maura Healey, state Senator Sonia Chang-Diaz (D-Jamaica Plain), and Boston city councilor Julia Mejia (D-Dorchester) each gave $1,000 of their campaign funds to abortion funds this year.
Healey donated $1,000 to the Abortion Rights Fund of Western Massachusetts on August 30, according to the Massachusetts Office of Political and Campaign Finance.
The organization’s Facebook page says that “ARFWM provides direct financial assistance to people seeking abortions who cannot afford them.”
The Abortion Rights Fund of Western Massachusetts says that it helps pay for more than 300 abortions per year, according to the National Network of Abortion Funds.
A spokesman for the Abortion Rights Fund of Massachusetts told NewBostonPost in an email message that the organization doesn’t have a specific comment on Healey’s donation.
“The Abortion Rights Fund of Western Massachusetts does not comment on individual donations,” the spokesman said by email. “However The Fund is proud of all of our donors, who help to equalize access to abortion healthcare and bring us all closer to the goals of reproductive justice.”
This wasn’t the first time Healey used campaign funds to donate to an abortion fund, either.
Healey donated $150 of campaign money to The Jane Fund of Central Massachusetts on January 16, 2020, according to the Massachusetts Office of Campaign and Political Finance.
The Jane Fund’s Facebook page says that it “provides financial help to anyone who cannot afford abortion care.” The organization’s web site says that it funds abortion for women from Central Massachusetts as well as women traveling to Central Massachusetts to have abortions.
Meanwhile, the other two candidates, Chang-Diaz and Mejia, donated to the National Network of Abortion Funds.
“The National Network of Abortion Funds builds power with members to remove financial and logistical barriers to abortion access by centering people who have abortions and organizing at the intersections of racial, economic, and reproductive justice,” the organization’s web site says.
Mejia made her $1,000 donation to the organization on July 5, 2022; Chang-Diaz made her contribution one week later on July 12, 2022, according to the state Office of Campaign and Political Finance.
Massachusetts Citizens for Life executive director Patricia Stewart condemned the politicians’ donations and said politicians should not spend money to end the lives of the unborn.
“How perverse it is for those, seeking to work for all citizens of Massachusetts, to believe they can earn votes by financing the killing of the unborn,” Stewart told NewBostonPost in an email message.
Spokesmen for Healey, Chang-Diaz, and Mejia could not be reached for comment on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday this week. Nor could the National Network of Abortion Funds.
