Five Wokest Colleges In Massachusetts

Colleges have a reputation for being liberal in conservative circles, and schools in Massachusetts are among the most.

The Bay State has plenty of woke institutions for higher learning, but which are the wokest?

Here are five:

1.  Emerson College

The private college mostly located in the Beacon Hill neighborhood of Boston that serves 4,117 students is quite woke.

To give you an idea of how woke Emerson is, the school puts tampons in all of the public bathrooms on campus, except for on-campus residential buildings. Yes, that includes men’s bathrooms.

And if putting tampons in men’s bathrooms isn’t good enough, the school suspended its Turning Point USA chapter in 2021 because it handed out stickers that said “CHINA KINDA SUS,” indicating that the group does not support the communist Chinese government.

For its commitment to the idea that men get periods and suppression of free speech, Emerson has to be one of the woker colleges in this country.

2.  Hampshire College

While Hampshire College, with an enrollment of about 500 students, is not the most prominent school in Amherst, Massachusetts, the private liberal arts school has earned a reputation for its wokeness.

After Donald Trump won the 2016 presidential election, the school began flying its American flags at half-staff. In response to Trump’s win, someone removed one of these flags from a pole and burned it. So how did the college respond? It stopped flying the American flag altogether.

Additionally, the school rescinded a speaking invitation for Antonia Okafor, a pro-Second Amendment black woman, in 2017. Regardless of how one feels about gun rights, colleges should give people with right-of-center views an opportunity to speak rather than suppressing their viewpoint.

That said, it’s hard to imagine many conservative parents sending their children to this school.

3.  Smith College

Did you know the term “freshman” is offensive?

At Smith College, a private women’s liberal arts college in Northampton, Massachusett with about 2,600 students, faculty are supposed to avoid it. It is one of many terms on the “Smith Style Guide” that people are supposed to avoid in formal communications on behalf of the school. The politically-correct guide also says terms such as “preferred pronouns,” “foreign,” “chairman,” and “upperclassmen” are unacceptable.

Plus, the school offers a women and gender studies class called “White Supremacy in the Age of Trump” that features this course description:

This course analyzes the history, prevalence and current manifestations of the white supremacist movement by examining ideological components, tactics and strategies, and its relationship to mainstream politics. We will also research and discuss the relationship between white supremacy and white privilege and explore how to build a human rights movement to counter the white supremacist movement in the U.S. Students will develop analytical writing and research skills while engaging in multiple cultural perspectives. The overall goal is to develop the capacity to understand the range of possible responses to white supremacy, both its legal and extralegal forms.

White supremacy is a disgusting ideology. But it has a tiny following in the United States, and it’s wrong to tie the movement to former President Donald Trump.

Yet it’s not surprising that a woke college would do such a thing.

4.  Mount Holyoke College

This liberal arts school in South Hadley, Massachusetts that serves about 2,200 students is another woke institution.

Mount Holyoke used to be a women’s-only college, but now it admits everyone except for men who identify as men.

It began admitting transgender students in 2014, including males who identify as women (“transgender women”), and females who identify as men (“transgender men”), and those who identify as genders other than male or female. It is the only school in America with this type of anyone-but-men-who-identify-as-men admissions policy, according to its web site.

And if that’s not good enough, Mount Holyoke College starts each school-sanctioned event with a land acknowledgement where the speaker must acknowledge that the gathering is “occupying the ancestral land of the Nonotuck people,” as NewBostonPost previously reported.

If the school cares so much about native land, it should shut down and give the Nonotuck people their land back. Otherwise, this is weak virtue signaling.

5.  Wellesley College

You know you’re a woke college when you let Hillary Clinton give a commencement speech, as this college did in 2017.

The private women’s liberal arts school with about 2,500 students gave the 2016 Democratic nominee a platform to complain about then-President Trump; she also gave the school’s commencement speech in 1992, according to ABC News.

Yes, she’s a graduate. But two bites at the apple?

The school also rigidly follows the transgender ideology. It allows those who identify as women, including males, to attend the school, but not females who identify as men, according to its web site.

So, ultimately, it’s a co-ed school that bars some men and some women from consideration. That would have been unthinkable way back in the 2000s.

New to NewBostonPost? Conservative media is hard to find in Massachusetts. But you’ve found it. Now dip your toe in the water for two bucks — $2 for two months. And join the real revolution.
