Five Ways Maura Healey Has Worsened Illegal Immigration

If you want Governor Maura Healey to solve the illegal immigration problem in Massachusetts, keep dreaming.

Over the years, our state’s governor has made illegal immigration worse in the United States by incentivizing it — and trying to stop those working to reduce it.

Here are five ways Healey has worsened the illegal immigration problem in recent years:

1.  In-State Tuition

As governor, Healey signed a fiscal year 2024 budget into law that provided in-state tuition for illegal immigrants.

She called the move a “no-brainer” — as in she thinks it’s obvious that illegal immigrants should get in-state tuition in Massachusetts.

Why not work to cut bloat at state colleges and universities so they can be more affordable for citizens of the Commonwealth instead of creating another incentive for illegal immigrants?

2.  No Residency Requirement

The state’s right-to-shelter law is causing a lot of problems right now — and Healey and the Democrats on Beacon Hill won’t implement the obvious solution to the problem:  a six-month residency requirement.

“We’ve got a lot of people who have family in New Hampshire, for example,” Healey told GBH News this past weekend. “They may come and go to in-laws over the border and it’s just to say, I think we gotta be careful when we’re talking about something like residency.”

Instead, the administration will continue paying to put non-citizens, including illegal immigrants, up in hotels and motels. In turn, these entities have jacked up their prices and drove citizens of the Bay State to homelessness

Nice job, Governor.

3.  Open Up Your Homes

One of the Healey administration’s so-called solutions to the migrant crisis has been to tell Bay Staters to house migrants in their private homes.

“Most importantly, if you have an extra room or suite in your home, please consider hosting a family. Housing and shelter is our most pressing need and become a sponsor family,” Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll said in August 2023.

People have taken the administration up on this offer, including one white liberal family in Brookline where a woman referred to one of the members of the Haitian family she is housing as her “own personal chef,” according to GB News.

For the record, Healey’s press spokesman never responded to NewBostonPost’s request for comment in August 2023 asking how many migrants Healey and Driscoll will be housing in their private homes.

If illegal immigrants think they can have a free place to stay in Brookline, Massachusetts, don’t you think that will incentivize them to come here?

4.  Yes On 4

In 2022, Healey endorsed “Yes” on Question 4.

The ballot question was a proposed veto referendum on a law that made illegal immigrants eligible for driver’s licenses — and backing a “Yes” vote meant she supported keeping the law in place.

“This is a matter of public safety and this is a matter of making sure that we know who is on the roads, that we know that they are trained,” Healey said in October 2022, according to WCVB.

So Healey not only backed a measure to increase carbon emissions by putting more cars on the road, but she also supported something that incentivizes illegal immigrants to come here.

No wonder the state has an illegal immigrant problem.

5.  Suing Trump

Remember when Maura Healey was a state attorney general who made a name for herself suing President Donald Trump’s administration nearly 100 times?

Some of that had to do with attempting to thwart Trump’s agenda when it came to cracking down on illegal immigration.

A few examples of when Healey sued the Trump administration:  when it declared a state of emergency so it could use military funding to build more border wall, when it wanted to require asylum seekers to file asylum claims in countries they traveled to before seeking asylum in the United States, and when it wanted to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program that provides protections for illegal immigrants.

See the problem here? Healey worked for years to undermine a president who wanted to reduce illegal immigration to the United States.

And now, with Joe Biden as president and Maura Healey as governor, Massachusetts has an illegal immigrant problem.

Shocker . . .
