10 Massachusetts Media Members Who Have Donated To Democrats Since 2023

Members of the mainstream media in Massachusetts have donated thousands of dollars to liberal Democratic politicians in recent years, as NewBostonPost has previously reported.
That trend continued in 2023 and into 2024 at the state and local level, with several media members donating money to Democrats in the Bay State.
Here are 10 of them:
1. Worcester Telegram & Gazette editor Brian Nelson
Brian Nelson, who serves as a multimedia content editor for the Worcester-based newspaper, donated $10 to then-Worcester city council candidate Robert Bilotta, a Democrat, on July 25, 2023, according to the Massachusetts Office of Campaign and Political Finance.
2. Whitman-Hanson Express editor Tracy Seelye
Tracy Seelye gave $10 to state representative John Moran (D-South End) on March 20, 2023, according to the state Office of Campaign and Political Finance.
Moran effectively ran unopposed in the Ninth Suffolk District special election in May. Moran’s primary opponent dropped out two weeks before election day. There were no other candidates on the May 30, 2023 special election ballot. He succeeded Jon Santiago (D-South End), who now serves as the Massachusetts secretary of veterans’ services.
Seelye is also on the board of a Pete Buttigieg-aligned political action committee called Build The Era — and she has a lengthy resume of Democratic Party activism.

2. Belmont Citizens Forum managing editor Jeffrey North
Jeffrey North gave $50 to state representative David Rogers (D-Cambridge) on January 14, 2023, according to the state Office of Campaign and Political Finance.
Belmont Citizens Forum is an online news web site that covers the town of Belmont, Massachusetts. It also has a bimonthly print publication with a circulation of about 2,200 copies.
4. Boston Korea founder and editor Myong Chang
Boston mayor Michelle Wu, a progressive Democrat, was largest the largest political recipient of this media member’s money. Wu received a $200 donation from Myong Chang, founder and editor of The Boston Korea, on February 28, 2023, according to the Massachusetts Office of Campaign and Political Finance.
Chang’s publication is a weekly Korean-language newspaper.

5. TV Dominicana reporter Oscar Guzman
Oscar Guzman, host of Virus Deportivo, a sports ⚽️ program on TV Dominicana, donated $50 to state senator Pavel Payano (D-Lawrence) on December 28, 2023, according to the state Office of Campaign and Political Finance.
The Spanish language Dominican-oriented television channel is a part of many premium cable television packages in Massachusetts.
6. Berkshires Week editor Ellen Spear
Spear donated $100 to state Representative Tricia Farley-Bouvier (D-Pittsfield) on January 29, 2024, according to the state Office of Campaign and Political Finance.
Berkshires Week is a former magazine turned web site owned by New England Newspapers, Inc., the same company that owns The Berkshire Eagle.
7. Post-Gazette editor Richard Settipane
Settipane donated $250 to Massachusetts Auditor Diana DiZoglio, a Democrat, on March 8, 2024, according to the state Office of Campaign and Political Finance.
The Post-Gazette is a weekly newspaper geared towards Italian-Americans in the Boston area.
8. WHDH editor Edward Felker
Felker donated $100 to state Representative Andrew Vargas (D-Lawrence) on April 24, 2024, according to the state Office of Campaign and Political Finance.
Felker is a post-production editor at WHDH, better known as 7 News.
9. Holyoke Media news director Natalia Muñoz
Muñoz donated $150 to state Senator Joanne Comerford (D-Northampton) in January 2024. She first donated $50 on January 3, then another $100 on January 27, according to the state Office of Campaign and Political Finance.
Holyoke Media is the public access cable station in Holyoke, Massachusetts.
10. Providence Journal news reporter Jack Perry
Perry donated $100 to state Representative Dylan Fernandes (D-Woods Hole) on January 9, 2024, according to the state Office of Campaign and Political Finance.
The Providence Journal is the largest daily newspaper in Rhode Island. It covers the Providence metropolitan area. It has a print circulation just shy of 20,000 copies daily, according to GoLocalProvidence.
