7 News Reporter Says Bring Back Plastic Shopping Bags

March 26, 2024

Count one member of the mainstream media as being against the elimination of so-called single-use plastic bags at grocery stores.

Steve Cooper, a reporter for 7 News (WHDH), expressed his frustration with his Stop & Shop bags ripping over the weekend — and called on the company to change its bag policy.

“Who’s the clown at a major supermarket chain who decided to charge customers .10 cents a paper bag that immediately rips into pieces when you leave the store … like does that happen to the CEO and they think oh this seems okay [crying laughing emojis] …. bring back the plastic bags,” Cooper posted on X, commonly known as Twitter.

Stop & Shop discontinued its use of plastic shopping bags and started charging $0.10 per paper bag in May 2023, according to WCVB.
