Abortion Supporters Disturbed By ‘Irresponsible and Harmful’ Story On 40 Days For Life

October 31, 2022

A western Massachusetts woman who supports legal abortion chastised the Daily Hampshire Gazette for publishing a story about the 40 Days for Life campaign.

The story, published Monday, October 24, described and quoted volunteers praying outside of abortion clinics. It also included a written statement from Planned Parenthood.

But the letter writer said she is “appalled” by the story, claiming that 40 Days for Life “is part of an anti-abortion movement strategy to shame, intimidate, and threaten pregnant people seeking health care.”

She also claimed without evidence that 40 Days for Life offers women “false or misleading health information.”

She called the story “irresponsible and harmful.”

An Amherst woman also expressed outrage in a letter to the editor, explaining:  “Ultimately, if you read or listen closely, it becomes clear that the broad aim of anti-abortionists is to grow its flock of religious disciples and domestic missionaries who seek to govern all of society with its restrictive, oppressive, and medieval ideas and standards.”
