Alex Morse May Primary Richard Neal Again In 2022

September 8, 2020

Holyoke Mayor Alex Morse didn’t win this time, but there could be a next time.

Morse unsuccessfully primaried U.S. Representative Richard Neal (D-Springfield) in Massachusetts’s First Congressional District this year. He received 41.2 percent of the vote to Neal’s 58.8 percent in the Tuesday, September 1 primary..

That doesn’t mean he won’t primary Neal again, however.

On the possibility of running again in 2022, Morse told the Daily Hampshire Gazette it is “certainly not off the table.”

Additionally, Morse said that people should expect him to run for mayor of Holyoke again in 2021.

Morse ran to the left of Neal, supporting Medicare-for-all and reparations, although his campaign did not offer plans on how to pay for either program.
