‘All Cops Are Bastards’ Said Candidate for Public Office in Connecticut Town

September 29, 2023

A candidate for public office in Stonington, Connecticut is drawing fire for anti-police social media postings three years ago, including two that used an acronym that stands for “All Cops Are Bastards.”

Farrah Garland, a Democratic candidate for the town’s Board of Finance, posted the messages in 2020 during the anti-police atmosphere after the death of George Floyd in Minnesota, according to The Day of New London.

A Republican state representative from the town, Greg Howard, who is also a police detective in Stonington, told the newspaper he doesn’t want to see someone with what he described as extreme views hold office in the coastal town, which borders Rhode Island.

Garland defended the posts.

“In 2020, I did what I could to care for a vulnerable population,” Garland said, according to The Day. “I shouted that Black Lives Matter and that we won’t be silent until we see real change.”
