Arrrghhh! No Season For Massachusetts Pirates Pro Football Team This Year

One Massachusetts professional football team will not have a season at all this year, as This Week in Worcester reports.

The National Arena League, an indoor arena football league, will not have a season in 2020. That means the Massachusetts Pirates, who play at the DCU Center in Worcester, will not have a 2020 season. The reason is that the league determined that teams could not play games without fans in attendance — which isn’t possible because of the coronavirus emergency.

The season was supposed to start in April, and the Pirates would have been nine games into a 14-game season by now.

The league is expected to have a 2021 season.
