Ayanna Pressley Doesn’t Want Schools To Open To Start The School Year

August 8, 2020

Should schools in Massachusetts have in-person instruction?

U.S. Representative Ayanna Pressley (D-Dorchester) says no.

Pressley, who has a daughter in middle school, does not think it is safe for schools to open up yet — although she didn’t say when she thinks it will be safe.

“Schools throughout the Commonwealth — particularly in communities hardest hit by COVID-19 like so many across the Massachusetts 7th — are not equipped with the resources, equipment, classroom facilities and staff necessary to safely reopen for in person courses,” she said, according to Boston.com. “The safety and health of our children, educators and community must come first. Therefore, I believe we must begin the school year with fully remote instruction.”
