Baker Administration Announces Eight Free Coronavirus Testing Locations

July 8, 2020

Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker’s administration announced on Wednesday that there will be eight free coronavirus testing sites in the state from July 10 to August 14 in hopes of mitigating the spread of the virus.

The “Stop the Spread” initiative will have locations in Chelsea, Everett, Fall River, Lawrence, Lynn, Lowell, Marlborough, and New Bedford, administration officials said.

“While the Commonwealth has made progress on reducing the overall positive test rate, there are still communities where the number of positive tests is above the average of the rest of the state,” Baker said, according to WWLP-TV Channel 22 in Springfield. “Focusing our efforts to increase testing in these communities will help identify new cases and stop the spread. Residents of these communities, even those who are asymptomatic, are urged to take advantage of these new sites.”

Tests are expected to be made available to anyone who wants one. More information can be found at www.mass.gov/stopthespread.
