Barack Obama To Host Large Birthday Party On Martha’s Vineyard

August 2, 2021

Former President Barack Obama turns 60 on Wednesday this week.

He plans to celebrate with a gathering of about 500 people on Martha’s Vineyard this upcoming weekend despite concerns in Massachusetts about the Delta variant of coronavirus.

So far, Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker has no insight in terms of the party’s protocols, as Axios reports. Obama officials did not tell Axios whether or not masks will be required at the event.

President Joe Biden, who served as Obama’s vice president from 2009 to 2017, will not attend, according to a spokesman.

Obama’s birthday party comes amid news of a coronavirus super spreader event in Provincetown, at the northern tip of Cape Cod. As a result, the town now has a mask mandate in place.

Martha’s Vineyard is about 3 miles south of the south coast of Cape Cod.
