Bernie Sanders Dominating New Hampshire Poll

February 3, 2020

In the latest 7News/Emerson College New Hampshire Democratic presidential primary poll, Senator Bernie Sanders holds a commanding lead.

The Vermont socialist has 29 percent support among likely Democratic primary voters. This puts him well ahead of former Vice President Joe Biden (14 percent), former South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg (13 percent), and Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren (12 percent). The other candidates have less than 10 percent support.

Among likely voters surveyed, 13 percent said the results of the Iowa Caucuses could affect whom they end up supporting on Tuesday, February  11.

If Sanders wins New Hampshire, it would be the second presidential primary there in a row. Against Hillary Clinton, Sanders won every county in the state.

Although New Hampshire is a must-win state for New England Democrats seeking the presidential nomination, it does not guarantee the candidate gets the nomination. Clinton, for instance, in 2016 eventually beat Sanders to win the nomination despite dropping the state.
