Bernie Sanders Endorses Pony-Tailed, Pot-Friendly Vermont Lieutenant Governor Candidate

August 9, 2022

David Zuckerman wants his old job back.

U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vermont) agrees that Zuckerman should have his old job back.

Zuckerman, a member of both the Democratic Party and the Vermont Progressive Party, is running for lieutenant governor once again. And he has Sanders’s endorsement in the race.

“At a time when so many of our people are hurting, we need a Lieutenant Governor in Montpelier with experience who will help lead the fight for economic, racial, social and environmental justice,” Sanders said, according to VT Digger. “David is that person and I am proud to endorse him.”

Zuckerman, who grew up in Brookline, Massachusetts, is one of four Democrats running in the primary this year.

Zuckerman served as the state’s lieutenant governor from 2017 to 2021. Zuckerman ran for governor in 2020 and lost to the incumbent Republican, Phil Scott, 68.5 percent to 27.5 percent.

As lieutenant governor, Zuckerman, an organic farmer, sported a pony tail and engaged in marijuana-friendly activities.
