Bernie Sanders Will Seek Re-Election In Vermont

May 10, 2024

U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vermont) is running for a fourth term.

The self-described democratic socialist announced this week that he will seek re-election, according to CBS News.

“We must fight to make sure that we remain a democracy, not an authoritarian society,” Sanders said in a statement, according to CNN. “We must fight to make sure that we have a government which represents the working families of our country, not the billionaire class and wealthy campaign contributors.”

Sanders, 82, has been a member of the U.S. Senate since 2007. He was first elected in 2006 and was re-elected in 2012 and 2018.

Sanders is expected to cruise to re-election.
