Bernie Sanders Won’t Say if He’s Seeking Re-Election To U.S. Senate

March 10, 2023

U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vermont) is 81 years old.

By election day in 2024, he will be 83 years old.

So will Sanders run for re-election in 2024?

The self-described democratic socialist has not told the public his intentions yet.

“Well, I’ve got a little while to make that determination; I’ll make it at the appropriate time,” he said, according to New York Magazine.

Sanders has been a United States senator since 2007. Before that, he served as the at-large U.S. Representative for Vermont. Before that, he served as the mayor of Burlington, the state’s largest city.

Sanders has previously said he won’t run for president again. He unsuccessfully sought the Democratic Party’s nomination in 2016 and 2020.
