Biden’s Secretary of Education Pick From Connecticut Isn’t Anti-Charter School

President-elect Joe Biden is no fan of charter schools, but what about his pick for education secretary?

Biden nominated Miguel Cardona, the education commissioner of Connecticut, for the post. 

Cardona’s thoughts on charter schools are a little different from Biden’s.

“Charter schools provide choice for parents that are seeking choice, so I think it’s a viable option, but [neighborhood schools] that’s going to be the core work that not only myself but the people behind me in the agency that I represent will have while I’m commissioner,” he said, according to The Connecticut Mirror.

Connecticut has just 25 charter schools across the state.
