Bill Galvin Dominating Democratic Primary Poll For Massachusetts Secretary of State

August 18, 2022

How will Secretary of the Commonwealth Bill Galvin fare this year?

The incumbent Democrat has a comfortable lead in the latest primary poll from MassInc. It found that 43 percent of likely Democratic voters plan to support Galvin while just 15 percent would support his more progressive primary opponent:  NAACP Boston president Tanisha Sullivan.

The winner of this primary will move on to face Republican Rayla Campbell of Whitman in the November general election.

In 2018, Galvin defeated then-Boston city councilor Josh Zakim 67.4 percent to 32.4 percent in the Democratic primary for the post. He then beat Republican Anthony Amore in the general election 71 percent to 25 percent.
