Bill Galvin Not Ruling Out Another Term As Secretary of State

January 14, 2022

Incumbent Secretary of the Commonwealth Bill Galvin hasn’t said for sure whether or not he plans to seek another term, but he suggested that his work isn’t finished yet in a recent interview.

“I believe I still have work to do,” Galvin told Politico this week. “Never have our elections been under greater stress than they are now. … My record of elections, the pandemic record turnout, I think we’ve shown we can do it.”

In 2018, Galvin said that election would be his last.

This year, Galvin’s priorities are setting a September primary date and trying to restore mail-in voting. He wants the first Tuesday in September to be primary day (September 6).

Galvin has served in this role since 1995.
