Bill Galvin Says He’ll Announce Whether He’ll Seek Re-Election For Secretary of the Commonwealth By February

January 20, 2022

Massachusetts Secretary of the Commonwealth Bill Galvin doesn’t want to wait much longer to announce whether or not he plans to seek another term.

Galvin, 71, who has served in the role since 1995, will announce whether or not he wants to seek another term by the end of the month, he told MASSterList.

“The party has certain rules that you have to announce what you’re doing very quickly and it’s approaching at the end of the month,” Galvin said. “By that time, or sooner, I will say something and everyone will know, but I don’t think I’ve hidden much.”

When he won re-election in 2018, he said he at the time that he didn’t plan to run again.

If Galvin does run again, he’ll face opposition in the Democratic primary from NAACP Boston president Tanisha Sullivan.
