Bill Galvin Will Seek Another Term

January 25, 2022

Massachusetts Secretary of the Commonwealth Bill Galvin plans to seek an eighth consecutive term in office.

Galvin, 71, a Democrat who has served in the role since 1995, made the announcement on social media on Monday, January 24.

“At this time in our national history the conduct of accessible honest accurate election is critical to our national future,” Galvin wrote. “I am proud of my record of innovative methods of increasing voter turnout while maintaining accurate transparent results. All our most recent elections have had record voter participation.”

Galvin has a Democratic primary opponent:  NAACP Boston president Tanisha Sullivan. On the Republican side, Whitman Republican Rayla Campbell is running for the post.
