Block Island Open For Business, Tourism Council Says

Block Island wants to let the world know it is open to the public, and the public will have more access to it starting next week.

The island, which is a part of Rhode Island, will have high-speed ferry services starting on Friday, June 19.

“We are open,” Steven Filippi, the president of the Block Island Tourism Council, told WJAR-TV Channel 10. “All the restaurants are open. We’re ready to go. We need our tourists out here to keep us surviving.”

WJAR reports that there has been fewer hotels booked in Block Island than in previous years.
