Boston Red Sox Find New Bench Coach

November 29, 2022

The Boston Red Sox will have a new bench coach during the 2023 season.

The team is promoting Ramon Vazquez to the role, according to NBC Sports Boston.  He is replacing Will Venable, who was hired to be the Texas Rangers’ associate manager.

Vazquez has been on the Red Sox coaching staff since 2018; he served as the team’s first base coach last season.

Vazquez, 46, played Major League Baseball from 2001 to 2009. This included a stint with the Boston Red Sox in 2005. However, he was traded to the Cleveland Indians on July 7, 2005, for Alex Cora — who is now the manager of the team. Cora was also a player at the time.
