Brockton Independent Movie To Feature Abortion As Do-or-Don’t Question

April 24, 2021

Abortion is the theme of a short independent movie filmed in Brockton.

Abort, directed by Brockton native Tim Young, is about “a Black woman caught at the crossroads of starting a family or continuing to advance in her career,” according to The Brockton Enterprise.

Filming for the movie wrapped up in early April.

The Brockton Enterprise story does not describe the movie further, but focuses instead on Young’s quest to make the movie, which included receiving about $3,000 in donations after thousands of dollars’ worth of camera equipment was stolen from his car.

Young, now about 30, starred on Brockton High School’s undefeated basketball team in 2009 and went on to excel in basketball at Newbury College, which was an NCAA Division 3 program. The Brookline school closed in 2019.

During his senior year in college, Young fell in love with moviemaking.

He has shot interviews and has made short videos during the past decade. His production company, McGriff Films, has a Facebook page and a YouTube channel. This is his first stab at a feature-length film.

Abort is scheduled to premiere in the fall of 2021.
