Cape Summit Planned For Residents Worried About On-Shore Impacts of Ocean Turbines

January 18, 2024

Cape Cod residents worried about the effects of apparatus bringing electricity from ocean turbines on shore are organizing a summit in Hyannis later this month.

The group, Save Greater Dowses Beach, is calling the event “Close to the Wind.”

“The conference will focus attention on less harmful and costly ways to develop offshore wind energy while minimizing the damage and disruption to residents and businesses that operate offshore and onshore,” the organization said, according to The Cape Cod Times.

The event is scheduled for 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, January 27 at Hyport Conference Center at 35 Scudder Avenue in Hyannis.

Organizers are requesting a voluntary $20 donation to attend.

A Zoom link for the meeting is to be provided at the group’s web site, SaveDowses.org.
