Charlie Baker Doesn’t See Mask Mandate Changing Anytime Soon

Will the mask mandate in Massachusetts change anytime soon?

The state’s governor, Charlie Baker, says no — even when it comes to the outdoors and people who have already been vaccinated.

“A lot of it is going to depend on both guidance we get from the feds and how fast we are able to vaccinate people, and how big a deal these variants are, not just here in Massachusetts and the northeast but around the country generally,” Baker, a Republican, told NBC 10 Boston.

As of November 2020, everyone ages 5 and up is supposed to wear a mask in public in Massachusetts, including outdoors and even when more than six feet apart, according to an order issued by Baker.
