Charlie Baker, Karyn Polito Raise Near Identical Amounts of Money In December

January 19, 2021

December 2020 was a good month for fund raising for both the incumbent governor and the lieutenant governor, as the Massachusetts Office of Campaign and Political Finance reveals.

From December 1 to December 31, Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker, a Republican, raised $165,418.88, boosting his campaign account total to $596,105.67, according to the Office of Campaign and Political Finance. Meanwhile, the state’s Republican lieutenant governor, Karyn Polito, raised a similar amount of money:  $165,944.00. That bumped her total campaign account balance to $1,919,073.53, according to the Office of Campaign and Political Finance.

It’s unclear which of the two plans to run for governor in 2022. Neither of them has made the announcement yet. However, former state representative Geoff Diehl (R-Whitman) is considering running for governor on the Republican side.
