Charlie Baker To Meet With Mike Pence on Nantucket

Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker plans to meet this weekend with Vice President Mike Pence, the number-two official in Baker’s least favorite Republican administration.

Baker expects to meet the vice president on Nantucket, where Pence is headlining a fund raiser designed to help President Donald Trump’s (and his own) re-election effort, according to State House News Service.

Baker, a Republican, who has said he did not vote for President Trump, also a Republican, in the November 2016 general election, does not plan to attend the fund raiser, a Baker administration official told State House News Service.

The topic of discussion, according to the Baker aide, is the federal government’s response to the coronavirus emergency.

The $25,000-a-head lunch fund raiser is scheduled for Saturday, July 25 at the home of Robert Reynolds, the chief executive officer of Putnam Investments, of Boston, according to Politico.
